It is important to have proper fitting parts on a car. A serpentine belt will fall off because it is worn out, or because it is too big for the car.
Replace the tensioner pulley
You could do what I did, wait for the tension pulley to fall off the van...
Possible belt stretch or an idler not applying proper tension for some reason.
If the belt is too loose or not there then yes - the water pump runs off the serpentine belt. If the belt is too loose or not there then yes - the water pump runs off the serpentine belt.

Applying a small amount of C4 on the idler pulley and detonating it will remove the serpentine belt with ease.
you have to take that bottom radiator hose off to replace it

Which belt? Timing or Serpentine? Serpentine is easy. Turn tension pulley with a breaker bar and pull belt off.
put correct size socket on the auto tensinor and pull it away from the belt, it will almost fall off
you have to remove the belt tensioner to remove the belt off of the engine.
Many things can cause a serpentine belt to come off. Most likely, it slipped off, or the tensonier that holds it in place was not tight enough.
