well the motion is round and round but the force that stops it falling over is centrifugal force :)
because of friction and gravity
The force of friction will eventually steal away the energy of the spinning top, and it will fall over.

A spinning top won't gyrate forever.

A spinning top is a moving mass, and this represents a form of mechanical energy we call kinetic energy, which is the energy of motion.
i do not konw i was just looking on this site and thought i would answer something!
EnergyIf you do not already know, Energy Cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another, as is shown in E=mc2. Perpetual motion is impossible because all the kinetic energy required to move the object will be changed into another type of energy, such as heat or sound.Perpetual motionThink of a spinning top on a table. When you spin it, it turns round and round (obviously :p) and eventually stops, but why? Lets think of all the factors in play. There's air resistance, which slows down the top. There's friction between the table and the top, and of course there's gravity acting all the time on the top. All of these factors combined make it impossible for the top to continue spinning forever. This is why perpetual motion is impossible.
It uses the main (top) rotor to remain at the same altitude while using the tail (back) rotor to keep from spinning uncontrolably.
The spinning top is perturbed by gravity pulling it down and this causes the top to move in a direction perpendicular to the down force this is an example of vector motion. IJ=k.This is similar to riding a bike and as you lean on the bike you turn around the corner.
