∙ 8y agoThe problems with hubs are that they are insecure because they send traffic out every other port (except from the incoming port). That means your data goes to every PC connected to that hub. A switch removes this problem because it has a mac-address-table in its Cisco IOS. When a frame comes to a switch the switch will look at its mac-address-table and see that AA-BB-CC-11-22-33 is destined for DD-EE-FF-44-55-66 and the mac-address-table knows that DD-EE... is located on port FA0/4 so it only sends it out the Fa0/4 interface rather than every interface.
