It does ! The amount is insignificant.

Look at it another way, the moon is always falling toward the Earth ... and the Earth is always falling toward the moon. They are both accelerating.

Newton would say it is because gravity is accelerating the object. The object appears to accelerate because an eliptical orbit looks a lot like a parabola, when your feet are being pushed into an artificially slow circular orbit by the dirt under your feet.

A: because earths gravity cannot be harnessed forever unless the earth is moving with you.

B: because earths gravity is not strong enough to pull you along unless you are in space as friction from air resistance will stop you.

Usually because it hits the ground.

The force of Earth's gravity pulls everything towards the center of the planet. This means that if you are drawn in by its acceleration, once you have passed or gone through the center then the force of gravity will pull you back towards the center again, opposite to the direction in which you have been traveling. In doing this it will stop your acceleration in that direction and cause you to accelerate back towards the center.

With a hypothetical magic tunnel through the middle of the earth directly through the center of gravity down which you can drop your object, then the object will pass through the center and then slow down as gravity acts upon it in the opposite its previous acceleration. It will then fall back through the tunnel and the process will repeat itself on the other side, making the object oscillate through the tunnel forever.

Why does a falling subjected to earths gravity does not continue to accelerate forever?

what your talking about is terminal velocity, which is when the downward force of gravity (Fg)equals the upward force of drag (Fd). This causes the net force on the object to be zero, resulting in an acceleration of zero
