It sounds like you may have a misfire. This can be caused by a number of things.
1. Bad fuel.
2. Bad Spark Plugs.
3. Bad Fuel Injectors.
4. Bad Coil.
You can try using fuel injector cleaner to clear anything in the injectors.
If you have a misfire, your engine will knock, and run rough, and sometimes will die a few moments after starting. If it is dies after starting, and eventually stops starting your #1 best bet is bad fuel. Sometimes people can put stuff in your gas tank, like ammonia, or sugar, if they don't like you. It happened to someone I know.
