Answers are provided by the general public, just like the questions. There is not a staff sitting around waiting for someone to ask a question so they can answer it. With tens of thousands of people visiting the site everyday, it shouldn't take too long to get an answer. Not everyone with an answer you want will be here on the site.
If you don't already know the answer to a "simple" question, chances are there won't be anyone else who can answer it quickly either.

- no one was online to answer it at that time
- the question was not clear
- the question was too difficult
Because not everything revolves around you. Some people have lives. Because there are over 1,000,000 questions unanswered and there are only 2,000,000 users although you might think that with that many users you would think that the questions would be answered right away.

∙ 8y agoYou have to understand that this is a wiki site, and we get answers directly from the public. So it may take a while before someone with the necessary expertise will both visit the site and see the question. If it is a very common question, you can get the results instantly. For more obscure or philosophical questions, it may take a long time.

It depends on the question. Some are answered almost immediately while others take a bit longer. Others are never answered because no one can answer them. There really isn't a set time guarantee that a question will be answered within so long.
