I believe you are referring to diffraction. The general principle - called the Huygens–Fresnel principle - and one that can be used for analysis is that EVERY point reached by a wave (including light) becomes the origin of a new spherical wave. If this is analyzed in detail (combined by the principle of superposition), it turns out that this gives waves the behavior observed, including diffraction, interference, and the fact that in free space, light will just go "straight ahead".
The heat bends the light, causing objects to look distorted, and therefore the fireman's pathway. Just like the light above a radiator is distorted by its heat because light travels slower in heat.
only part of light its absorbed by nearby objects, that part that causes decay on the surface of the objects 'radiation' part of light the rest turns back into raw energy.
Infrared radiation or light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum and acts the same as visible light does.Infrared can be absorbed and reflected by objects much the same way as visible light. More on Infrared:Some black objects that absorb visible light radiation may reflect infrared.Much of the absorbed visible light energy is re-emitted as infrared up to many hours later. There are subcategories of infrared, two common ones are near-infrared and far-infrared. Near being closer to visible light.
Magnifing glass does nothing to the objects but they prepare images of objects that are larzer than objects. U can take example of distorting mirror when mirror produce image it dont do any distortion to the objects but the image produced is distorted
Because of the light rays and the uneven surface

Light given off by those objects are distorted by our atmosphere.

Well, all known people ARE inside the Milky Way galaxy. However, if we go near other celestial objects inside the milky way, such as black-holes, and supernovas, we would surely get fried/distorted by the huge amounts of gamma radiation and the immense gravity of these objects.
