It's the closest planet to the sun, so the "day" side gets HOT.
(it has a very slow rotation, about 2/3 of its year)
while the night side gets to radiate heat into outer space
(there's no atmosphere to help trap any of that heat).
There are 3main reasons: 1) Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun.
2) Mercury has a very thin atmosphere, so there is essentially nothing to keep the heat on its surface when night time arrives.
3) Mercury has a slow rotation - it takes approximately 58 Earth days for it to make one full rotation around its axis. As such, the side that is facing the sun will become quite hot, heating up to a toasty 427°C. On the side that is facing away from the sun, the warmth previously gained is quickly lost, resulting in the temperatures dipping down to a chilly -173°C.
Three reasons.
first - It is very close to the sun and is blasted by severe heat radiation.
second - It rotates so slowly that one hemisphere is facing away from the Sun for a long time and doesn't get heated by it during that time.
third - There's no atmosphere to transfer heat around the planet
It is not. Venus' temperature is higher due to its runaway greenhouse effect.
It doesn't. Venus has the "hottest" temperature of the planets.
Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. Its close proximity to the sun causes it's temperature to be the most extreme out of any other planet.
because it's the planet closest to the sun dugh :P
Mercury is not the hottest planet, that accolade goes to Venus,.
Mercury has the greatest temperature extremes of and planet.
The element mercury is a metal. The planet Mercury is rocky.

Mercury does the greatest number of revolutions, Neptune has an orbit with the greatest radius.
The temperature range of the planet Mercury is approximately -275 to 840 degrees Fahrenheit.
Mercury has the greatest temperature extremes of and planet.
Mercury with a surface temperature of 700K in the daytime and 100K in the night
The temperature of the planet Mercury ranges quite a lot. During the evening it is −287 degrees Fahrenheit and during the day it is 800 degrees Fahrenheit.
Mercury
The temperature on the planet may reach 840 degrees F (450 degrees C) during the day. But at night, the temperature may drop as low as -275 degrees F (-170 degrees C). It has the greatest temperature range of any planet or natural sattelite in the solar system.
Mercury's surface temperature can reach 801 Fahrenheit during the day! Nightime temperatures can drop to -279 Fahrenheit. That is dangerous!
