Why did Jay Leno and his wife not want children?

They have not said much about it, but there are several possible explanations. One is that perhaps they can't have kids, for some medical reason. Another is that in every society, about 10% of women choose not to have kids, and perhaps Mavis just did not want any. By all accounts, she and her husband are very close and both are passionate about their careers, so perhaps not having kids worked for them.
