There are several reasons 1. The Capulets and Montagues will be doomed to death if they break out in another fight 2. He doesn't want to screw up his party 3. Romeo is said to be well- behaved and he doesn't seem to be up to any sort of trouble.

∙ 12y agoCapulet was setting Paris up with Juliet. He invited Paris to the party so Juliet would have a chance to look him over, and Paris would have a chance to get to know Juliet. But that didn't really happen because Juliet found Romeo instead.
