This passage is found in Revelation 12... an "inset chapter," inserted into the narrative, to bring the reader "up to speed" [like a flashback] regarding certain past events in the beginning of Satan's role in the transpiring of events; both past and future.

It's important for the reader, as God's servant, to let the Bible interpret itself... considering that the book of Revelation is written AS A PARABLE, which Jesus always spoke in public SO THAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC WOULD NOT UNDERSTAND. But His disciples would go to Him, PRIVATELY, to have Him explain the symbols of the parables to them:

"Then, leaving the crowds outside, Jesus went into the [His] house. His disciples said, 'Please explain the story [parable] of the weeds in the field.'" (Matt.13:36 NLT New Living Translation)

In like manner, Faithful servants and readers of God's Word need to "go to Christ, PRIVATELY," in prayer, Faith, and Child-like trust, and let Jesus explain the symbols of Revelation's parable to them. THIS IS JESUS'S PARABLE... and He is the only One who can REVEAL IT to His servants.

"...'Who is worthy to break the seals on this scroll and unroll it?' But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll and read it. Then I wept because no one could be found who was worthy to open the scroll and read it.

"But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, 'Stop weeping! LOOK, the LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH, the Heir to David's throne, has conquered. HE IS WORTHY TO OPEN THE SCROLL AND BREAK ITS SEVEN SEALS.'" (Rev.5:2-5 NLT)

And so, in Revelation 12, we're told of a "symbolic Dragon"... that The Bible, the Word of Christ, reveals to us as: "This great Dragon - the ancient Serpent called THE DEVIL, or SATAN, the one deceiving the whole world - was thrown down to the earth WITH ALL HIS ANGELS." (Rev.12:9 NLT)

Also, in Revelation's first chapter, Jesus Christ "reveals" to those Faithful servants of His [those who BELIEVE what Jesus says] what the symbolic "STARS" are: "...The seven STARS are the ANGELS of the seven churches..." (Rev.1:20 NLT)

So, Revelation 12, in speaking of the "Dragon" [Satan]: "His tail dragged down ONE-THIRD OF THE STARS [ANGELS!], which he threw to the earth..." (Rev.12:4 NLT).

These "stars" of heaven [a full one-third of God's created angels who followed Satan in his rebellion against God's throne in heaven in the beginning] WILL not fall to the earth -- THEY ALREADY HAVE -- as revealed in verse 9, above.

We're told that "there was war in heaven" [verse 7] in which Michael and his angels [stars] fought the Dragon and his stars in this heavenly "coup attempt" against God's Government in the beginning... before man was made.

The result of that war was the "restraint" of the Dragon and his army of angels... and their being "cast down to the earth"... where they remain CONFINED to the earth until the Last Day of God's plan, JUDGMENT DAY, to stand trial for their crime:

"...I remind you of the angels who did not stay within the limits of authority God gave them but left the place where they belonged. God has KEPT THEM CHAINED IN PRISONS OF DARKNESS, WAITING FOR THE DAY OF JUDGMENT." (Jude 1:6 NLT)

These one-third of God's "stars" that fell from heaven have been here on earth all along. Not meteors or asteroids... but "angels"... "unclean spirits"... "demons!"

"For God did not spare even the angels [stars] when they sinned; He threw them into hell [tartaroo; a spiritual state of restraint], in gloomy caves and darkness UNTIL THE JUDGMENT DAY." (II Peter 2:4 NLT)

These "sinning stars" will be Judged by God's saints in the Judgment:

"Do you not know that we are to sit in Judgment upon the world? ...Do you not know that we are to sit in Judgment UPON ANGELS - to say nothing of things belonging to this life?" (I Cor.6:2-3 NLT)

Although other prophecies speak of "the powers of heaven being shaken" at the time of the end of God's plan and Jesus' return [see Matt.24:29], whereby we may well expect meteors and asteroids to penetrate our atmosphere... the "stars" of Revelation 12 are "angels."

No. The Bible talks about multiple Heavens. The first Heaven is here on earth. The second Heaven is the stars and the atmosphere. The third Heaven is where the Holy of Holies is. It's where the throne room of God is located and where the saints will spend eternity.
