The sun is more distant, if 2 objects are the same size, and one is very far and one is very close, the more distant one will appear smaller.
However, the sun's much larger size compensates for the greater distance, so they will appear to look identical in size.
Or they are somewhat the same size and somewhat equal distance away from the Earth.
The moon is 400 times smaller than the sun and the sun is 400 times further away from earth.
