1.even though it may be in park it may not be passed the neutral safety switch. next time that happens try putting it in neutral and that might bypass that switch.
2.Last time I had this problem on my 1996 Corolla, it turned out that the battery connection to the starter below was loose. Tightened the nut and all is well for past 2 years.
A brake light switch may be bad if a 1996 Toyota Corolla will not go into gear and the brake lights don't work. Another issue could be in the shift lock solenoid.
The best thing to do if your Toyota Corolla doesn't start is to call a tow truck. Have the tow truck take the car someplace that the car can get looked at.
i got no spark from coils and the efi fuse and relay are good. what other possibilities are there for a crank ,no start 04 corolla?
It could just be your starter...
ok
The instructions on how to bypass the lockout is contained in your owner's manual. If my memory serves me, there is a little removable plastic plug near the shift lever. remove this and you should see some kind of socket or switch that can be depressed, or moved, that will allow the shift lever to be moved.
If memory serves me correctly, I believe that Toyota was first imported in1969, with the Corolla and Carona models.
chances are to start with the fuel filter if that's not it try the fuel pump
Died while driving? Alternator
the backup light switch is part of the neutral start switch. it is located behind the shift lever at the bottom front of the transmission. it has about 8 wires coming out of the plug.
May be a fuel pump going bad
