Fill the 5-quart pail, then pour the liquid into the 3-quart pail until it is full. This will leave 2 quarts in your 5-quart pail. Empty the 3-quart pail.Pour the 2 quarts from your 5-quart pail into the 3-quart pail. Then fill up the 5-quart pail.Between the full 5-quart pail and the 3-quart pail (with 2 quarts in it) you should now have 7 quarts!
A quart.
The oil dipstick has a small gasket at the bottom of the dipstick. Replace the gasket with a new one and the oil should stop leaking.
It depends on where it is on the stick. The full mark should represent 5 quarts of oil. The add mark means you are a quart low (4 quarts)
You can check your automatic transmission fluid in your 1992 Chevy Cavalier with the transmission dipstick. The dipstick will have marks that indicate whether it is full or low one quart.

With a warm car on level ground, start car, pull transmission dipstick and wipe with a clean towel.Replace dipstick, let rest for 5 seconds, remove stick and check level.Add a max of 1 PINT of fluid if low and recheck as above. Do not overfill.1 quart low is fixable. 1 quart over could be $2000 mistake.GLDean
the same as they do on any other vehicle's dip stick. the lower mark (closest to the tip of the stick) indicates you are a quart low. the upper mark indicates that you are topped off. if there is cross hatching in between the two marks that means that you have the correct amount of oil in your engine--between full and a quart low.
there should be two hole near the bottom of dipstick if the oil is at the top of the second hole from the bottom its full if its at the bottom hole its a quart low
First off, that sounds entirely normal. The oil light comes on as a diagnostic to show that the light bulb is working.Second, check the oil, just to be safe. It is a rule of thumb that if the oil level is at the lowest mark on the dipstick, the engine is a quart low. If it is half way up the dipstick, it is at an acceptable level, but is still half a quart low. Add accordingly.10w30 motor oil is a good weight to run in a 3.8L. 5w30 and lower (5w20, and 0w20) is just too thin, especially for a 2001.
Start with a quart and then check the dipstick.
Approx 1 quart.

A small line engraved on the dipstick near the bottom of the dipstick will show FULL
