Why does your dog give you his bones?
Asked in Domestic Dogs, Dog Breeds, Dog Behavior
What can you give your dog?
Well, you give him bread, chicken bones (well any bones will work but make sure its not too small) dog treats, and meat. I thought you wasn't suppose to give a dog chicken bones because that kind of bones splinters and gets stuck in there throat?! That's just what i have been told, but might not be true, just helping you out =) DO NOT give your dog COOKED chicken bones. raw bones and meat are fine for dogs, follow proper handling instructions COOKED CHICKEN BONES CAN AND WILL SPLINTER and could lead to choking and death. Raw beef bones are good too.

Can you give a dog raw bones?
Dogs can have some types of raw bones mostly cow bones or ham bones to chew on, but should never be given weight-bearing bones to eat as these are too dense. Chicken/turkey bones are fine, providing they are of a suitable size for the dog in question. Any bones that you give your dog must be either raw or smoked they can not be baked, broiled or boiled. This is because when you cook a bone in this fashion it becomes hard and brittle and can break off in sharp shards that can injure your dog. When a bone is raw or smoked it will crumble as the dog chews on it...many pet shops carry a wide variety of cured or smoked bones that your dog will enjoy.

What type of toys do German shepherds like?
German Shepherds will play with any type of toy, some of those toys include: Kong (dog toy) Raw hide bones Rope toys Squeaky toys And plenty of other toys. If you plan on giving your dog bones (knuckle bones) talk to your vet about whether or not you can give your dog a bone, and why type of bone. If you do give your dog bones monitor how long they chew it as they can dull their teeth.
