The v6 engines have valves burn out constantly, which will cause both the damaged cylinder and the one across from it to misfire.
You may need to adjust the carburetor. It sounds like it's running too rich.
Your temperature gauge does not work, and the engine might run rough.
Perhaps you have a leak in your transmission. Check the transmission fluid while the car is running. DO NOT check any other fluids while the engine is running.

Any engine will run if the timing is only a tooth out of time. It just won't run well. It probably will have no power, or run rough.

The Corolla could be shaking for many reasons. Start by checking the wheel bearings and brakes for wear. Then check the engine to see if it running rough, causing the shake.
