∙ 11y agoGeorge Steinbrenner, two weeks before introducing the only mascot the NY Yankees ever used, said that mascots had no place in Baseball. This mascot, named "Dandy," was thus relegated to the upper deck, a place where no mascot wants to go. The fans never warmed up to Dandy, and he disappeared after three years. Today you would have trouble getting any statement from the Yankees organization that Dandy even existed.
