There is almost nothing to make someone want to go to Venus, considering that there is what is called the greenhouse effect put so much pressure on the planet the moment you step foot on the planet you will die. this is because that the atmosphere traps so much heat that and air that it becomes extremely hot.

  • Approximately 50 kilometers above the surface of the planet, the atmospheric pressure is very similar to what we live with on Earth.

  • Not only is the atmospheric pressure similar (something no other planet, sans the giants offer) to ours, so is the temperature. At this height, temperatures feature a very comfortable 32*F to 122*F - temperatures you may experience on Earth.

  • Because of Venus' significantly different atmosphere, lifting gasses are much different. The air we breathe - Nitrogen and Oxygen - are "Lighter than air" on Venus. This is very important, as any livable area would essentially be lighter than the atmosphere outside. This also means that our lifting gasses, Hydrogen and Helium, are vastly more effective on Venus. For example, a standard weather balloon on Venus could hold nearly 5 pounds of weight - approximately 1.5 times as much weight as on Earth.

  • Aside from the Earth, it is the easiest location to travel, both in time as well as cost of fuel. Venus is "Cheaper" due to its atmosphere allowing for any craft to use aerobreaking, rather than fuel (which is required for a trip to the Moon or Mars).

  • The "launch window" of sending spacecraft to or from Venus is 25% shorter than Mars (584 days to 780 days).

  • Solar energy in the cloud tops of Venus is abundant - solar panels pointed towards the planet would be nearly as efficient as pointed towards the sun

  • There are regions in the upper layer of clouds that absorb nearly half of the ultraviolet light aimed at the planet.

  • They also appear to contain an abundance of a type of sulfur compound unlike any seen here on Earth.

  • Venus's clouds appear to have everything life needs to get started, including energy sources and a liquid medium, although it remains to be seen if the droplets are stable enough to last long enough for organisms to live and reproduce

  • could be life in the clouds

  • "Venus Express will be a great mission and will tell us a lot about the planet, but I think to really make the next leaps in understanding Venus we're going to have to do something more than just orbit the planet. We need to take the plunge and explore the clouds and the surface directly."

  • flying to Venus was thought to be no harder than a mission to the moon; this would just be a longer mission and travel a little closer to the Sun

  • gathering data on Venus' surface properties, the chemical composition of the lower levels of the atmosphere, its gravitational field, and the properties of its various layers of clouds

  • In the Mariner 2 mission, NASA learned that Venus had more secrets locked away under its thick clouds. It was worth going back.

Well, if you wanted to be crushed, burned horribly, dissolved, and asphyxiated so fast only precision instruments could tell which one got you first - Venus is your planet!

Well, Venus contains a lot of volcanoes which has lava, so my guess would be that Venus would be a lot of solid rock and possibly the sky might be orange.
