The plates of Titanic were breached along a line about 258 feet long. Water poured in at an unstoppable rate and after about ten minutes, the ship pitched forward and the sinking was inevitable.
It was a brand new ship so hadn't had time to rust when it sank. Otherwise, it is at the bottom of the ocean and covered in rust and algae.
Well, it was a huge ship and so there was/is a lot to corrode I guess.
Actually, the Titanic is rusting away, but gradually.
