Why have primary jobs dropped?

primary jobs have dropped because it is cheaper to import raw materials and agricultural produce from other countries then it is to pay workers here. people would rather work in the tertiary sector as it gets better pay.

It is because there is not as much manufacturing industry in this country as there once was. This is because lots of the products we use in this country are being imported from Japan, China, America, and Mainland Europe. Consequently, there isn't as much need for workers in the secondary sector.

Another reason is that, because of automation (where human workers are replaced by robots/computers/machines), there's no need for humans to do the work, when it is cheaper to pay once for robots, rather than keep paying annual salaries for humans. There is still some need for human workers to control the machines in some areas (mechanization), but lots of workers who used to be in the secondary sector go and find jobs in businesses in the tertiary sector (providing a service)
