One possible cause could be due to a faulty water pump impeller which can manage to pump the water at idle but not at higher RPM. this can happen because the impeller is made of a hard nylon and is a push fit onto the water pump shaft. Also check your thermostat is in place(dont know cars history) because if it was removed
it could have the same result.
Good luck!
No, it wouldn't affect the idle unless you were somehow overheating the engine.
The most likely cause is a failed radiator fan.
my idling on my 2001 ford focus is not idling correct, tried to adjust idling but there is no screw or way to adjust why?
2001 sienna stall while just stop while driving. electric just cut out power, then switch can operated but idling roughling
You may not have enough coolant fluid. The 2001 PT cruisers are very picky with their coolant level. If you're short a pint it will overheat. radiator fan not working thermostat sticking
check the crank shaft actuator?
I'd check the coolant level first, then the thermostat.
