If you're asking why the exam is so difficult:
It consists of a multiple choice section, which students generally consider to be easy, and a free response/essay section. The student is given 2 hours and 10 minutes to write three essays: 2 FRQs (Free Response Question), and 1 DBQ (Document Based Question). Dividing up the time effectively would give 35 minutes for each FRQ and 1 hour for the DBQ. The DBQ requires the reading of around 8 primary source documents, which the student must reference in the essay. These essays must have a clear thesis and include in-depth analysis to score high. For example, a topic might read, "Assess the extent to which the foreign and domestic policies of Nixon's administration were effective." The limited time and pressure adds to the difficulty.
If you're asking why the class is difficult:
The class by itself depends on the teacher. If you have a tough teacher, he will do timed in-class essays often and grade without lenience--exactly as the AP readers would. The quantity of homework would be very large.
The APUSH DBQs are different from the AP World History DBQs in that the APUSH DBQs require more outside information, while the APWH DBQs are based on documentary information.

Beattie? APUSH
Im no APUSH teacher but im pretty sure he ran the American Army, he ran it so efficiently that he turned into the president. So he must have been a good leader.
Not at all. America is a single country and the world is, well, the whole world- all two hundred or so countries. That should be obvious. Since this is in the AP category, I'm going to assume you are referring to APUSH vs WHAP difficulty levels...? In which case, I'm currently taking WHAP and I haven't taken APUSH, but I've heard APUSH is easier than WHAP... But everything will depend on your teacher, and of course your work ethic. My advice? Study A LOT and don't get discouraged!
Quakers. APUSH ftw.
