Atticus Finch is a very modest man. He does not like to expose his abilities to anyone, fearing that it may get in the way of his life's goals. His personality, being a modest person, does not allow him to show off about what he can do. He rather prefers to keep it to himself and use them when necessary, rather than showcasing them for the entire county to see. I personally infer that he wants his children to follow in the same footsteps. Hope this helped. I'm in grade nine and am reading the same book right now for English class. I absolutely love it, don't know why I never read this book before.
-Cheers!
Scout and Jem find out that Atticus is less weak and boring, and they become very proud of him. (Probably not the best answer but good enough right?)
After the incident with the mad dog, Jem develops a newfound respect for his father, Atticus. He sees Atticus's marksmanship skills and calm demeanor in handling the situation, which impresses him. Jem's admiration for his father grows as he realizes the depth of Atticus's courage and abilities.
Because Atticus thought there were more important things to be proud of their father than of shooting a gun.
A mad dog (Tim Johnson) came into the neighborhood so Atticus shot him right into that rabid dog's right eye. Miss Maudie told Scout and Jem that Atticus was also known as "One Shot Finch." So that was what made them surprised and proud. :)
Scout says that "Atticus was feeble". Do you think that this is her view as she tells the story or her view when she was younger? Does she still think this after the events recorded in this chapter?
When Jem looks up to Atticus and knows that he is a gentleman, and finds out that Atticus is very good at shooting birds. That is one of Atticus's talents, so then Jem sees what kind of a gentleman Atticus really is.
I am certainly proud of being able to answer this question. On the other hand, Having children is something I am personally most proud of. Not necessarily for myself, but my children make me proud every day.
She wants the children to be proud of their name and feel superior to others.
Atticus challenges traditional gender roles and encourages Scout to be true to herself. He values her independence and intelligence, and believes in treating all people equally regardless of gender. Atticus is proud of Scout for being strong-willed and free-spirited.
Because atticus stood up for what he believed in.They were shocked because Jem and Scout always believed their dad was boring and old. When he was able to kill the dog in one shot made them realize that he wasn't.
Atticus sees that Scout has grown up and shown great courage and resourcefulness in the face of danger. He is proud of her for keeping her composure and handling the situation so well.
This is true because if you are proud of how you look then you are more confident in yourself and your abilities.
