He started out in vaudeville and radio, becoming a very popular entertainer. He took his popularity into films; the most famous arguably being the series of Road movies he did with Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour. He was also one of the first people to go overseas to entertain American troops with the USO, and did so for decades. In his later years, he had a series of television specials, including an annual College Football player showcase. He was also an avid golfer and promoted the sport (along with Bing Crosby).

∙ 11y agoHe was the big surprise star of The Big Broadcast of 1938. Prior to that, he was almost unknown outside of New York vaudeville. After that, he was a big movie comedian for almost thirty years, and a stage and TV star for years after that.
Bob Hope started out in vaudeville in acts where he danced and told jokes before moving on to Broadway theater. He then moved on to radio where he did a radio show "The Woodbury Soap Show" which lasted twenty years. The radio show lead to a contract with Paramount Pictures where he was the lead actor in at least 50 films and had small roles in 15 others.
