Booker T Washington was a role model because even though he didn't have much he still managed to pull through and persevere and make something out of his self. So that shows to prove that anything is possible, and you can achieve/do anything that you put your mind to.

Booker Taliaferro Washington was an American educator, author, orator, and advisor to presidents of the United States. Between 1890 and 1915, Washington was the dominant leader in the African-American community. He was from the last generation of black American leaders born into slavery.

He was a key proponent of African-American businesses and one of the founders of the National Negro Business League.
