Because when he was writing the music, he sang it with passion. He then asked Tim if he could be the singing voice of Jack because no one would sing it with so much passion like him. So Tim and Chris Sarandon (the voice of Jack) agreed to let him sing in the movie if Danny would speak as Jack and Chris sing as Jack in the video game "The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogies revenge"
