If you mean the original Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, it was because of the dinosaurs in the game. Apparently putting dinosuars in a game at the time was enough to warrant a Mature rating. The newer 2008 Turok was rated M because of the bloody scences and violent deaths.

Rated M stands for mature. mature as in a older attitude because the game has killing, blood, and gore in it. Because there are some people who are so immature, and not correct in the head, that they will go out and actually do some of the things on the games to real people. , but it's real. So be an M when you play these games.
