Jesus is the Hellenized (Greek) version of the Hebrew Y'shua (Joshua), which means "YHWH [The LORD, God] saves". In ancient Jewish culture, the name given to a person was very important and often told a story, sometimes of what God had done in the lives of the parents, or what the child was going to do. In this case, per Matthew 1:21, an angel of God appears to Joseph, Mary's husband, and tells him "you are to name name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

Jesus was his official name. Christ (Greek: christos), however, was not his last name. It was simply a title for him meaning "the Anointed One", "Messiah" or "Savior".

Sorry, Jesus is a made up name and it really doesn't have a meaning: now that's not saying a person who has called upon that name isn't really saved, they are! We all assumed it is the Son of God and God in the flesh, we just thought the Son of God's name was Jesus, we couldn't help it, because the preacher didn't teach us the truth and they know it. But His real name is Yeshua and for a reason and in English it means SALVATION, and in Hebrew each letter is a word in it's self. His name is spelled with a Yod, Sheen, Vav and Ayin look:

If you look at the Hebrew name of our Lord, Yeshua, you can see a wonderful TRUTH, and the Truth shall set you free. (John 8:32)

Yeshua's name is spelled with the Hebrew letters

Yod-( looks like a coma ) Sheen-( looks like a W ) Vav-( looks like a cane ) Ayin-(looks like a y)

Now if you look at a Hebrew Dictionary these words mean:

Yod: is HAND

Sheen: is used on the Mezuzah & stands for El Shaddai(God Almighty)

Vav: stands for Nail.

Ayin: stands for Eye, which we See by.

Now Hebrew reads from Right to left. But if we read backward just by saying: ayin - vav - sheen - yod it would be:

Or if you read it the way it's written in HebrewHand - ElShaddai - Nail- See! or Handof God Almightyhas nails, See.

Now you see WHY His name is so important and all of the names like Jacob's sons were names, they mean what they were going threw as they were being born. Jacob isn't Jacob, but Ya'akov which means 'Heel Catcher' because he grabbed his brother heel as they were being born. And you can look all this up free with e-sword a free download and it has many different bibles you can also download and compare with each other. and some have the Strongs.

Now just think what else the churches hasn't taught us in truth and why they continue to keep pagan feast and not God's Feast, not reveal the bloody truth behind St. Valentines day, Halloween-satan's day, Easter the pagan goddess of fertility and even christ-mass and who was born on Dec.25th like Nimrod and Constantine and his role in all this pagan things in the churches. Gods feast are rehearsals for thing that happen and still will happen, the fall feast has not happen yet, we are waiting on the Feast of trumpets for the Resurrection.

Good Friday and Easter should be Passover and Firstfruits, why not do God's days and not mans? Bible says Obey God and not man!

Many people throughout the world believe in one god & one world order. Thus having many names for one god makes sense because they all have different languages and cultures but the same god.

God gave His Son the name, Jesus because the original Hebrew "Joshua" means "Yahweh (the Lord) is Salvation." Thus His very name points to His role as our salvation.

from Modern Catholic Dictionary by John A. Hardon, S.J. Doubleday & Co., Inc. Garden City, NY 1980

Jesus. The name of Our Lord. It is the Latin form of the Greek Iesous, whose Hebrew is Jeshua or Joshua, meaning Yahweh is salvation. It is the name through which God the Father is to be invoked and by which the Apostles worked miracles (Acts 3, 6). In standard usage the name “Jesus” is applied to the Son of Mary, who is also the Son of God; as distinct from “Christ,” which refers to His Messianic rôle as the fulfillment of the ancient prophecies.
