Its called the mathematics planet because uranus was not following excactly the orbital path that had been carefully calculated for it by taking into account the gravitatinoal pull of the other planet astronomers decided that there must be another object beyond uranus.

Neptune was "discovered by math" because it was predicted mathematically before it was actually seen.

Astronomers noticed the planet Uranus was moving off course, and the English astronomer John Adams and the French astronomer Urbain LeVerrier both independently determined that another planet, further out, was pulling Uranus off course. German astronomers Johann Galle and Heinrich D'Arrest used LeVerrier's calculations to predict where Neptune should be, and turned their telescope towards it, becoming the first to see the new planet.

Why is Neptune the planet discovered by pen?

the reason Neptune is the planet discovered by pen is because unlike the other planets, Neptune was not discovered by finding it in the night sky. After Uranus was discovered, it was seen that its orbit was different than what was predicted, and it was decided that this was because of another unknown planet's gravitational pull. Then, mathematics was used to find the other planet, Neptune.
