Why is North Korea's citizens going blind?

The extreme starvation there affects people to the point that it fogs up their cataracts and eventually blinds them. Seeing as how 20% of the population has already died of hunger and the rest are starving, this shouldn't surprize me at all. I feel so bad for them...

Unless there is some disease going around that is afflicting the sight, I think the problem here is that North Korea probably has one of the worst health medications in the world.

At times the eye develops a thin layer which causes blindness, but it can be treated easily with some simple procedures. I know this because I went to some Asian/African mission trips and saw many of those who had these symptoms but was able to get their sight back.

If only North Korea would be willing to accept some help....
