semipermeable or selectively permeable.

What is a membrane called when only certain things can cross a membrane?

a membrane that only allows certain things to cross is called "selectively permeable"

What is a membrane that allows some substances to pass through but excludes others?

A membrane that lets some substances pass through but not others is known as a semipermeable membrane. Other terms that describe this type of membrane are: selectively permeable, partially permeable, or differentially permeable.

Membranes that allow only certain substances to pass through are called semipermeable and?

selectively-permeable membrane and the process of this type of diffusion is called fascilitated diffusion

Is it true if the process by which water moves across a selectively permeable membrane is called diffusion?

Diffusion is a physical process. When it is performed through a selectively permeable membrane, it is called osmosis. Thus osmosis is an appropriate word for movement of water molecules through a selectively permeable membrane and not diffusion.

What is the need for a semi permeable membrane?

we need a semipermeable membrane for a process called osmosis...

The passive transport of water across a selectively permeable is called?

Osmosis is the movement of water molecules across a selectively permeable membrane.

What process - movement of water across a selectively permeable membrane from an area of high water concentration to an area of low concentration?

Osmosis is the process by which water moves across a selectively permeable membrane.

What is it called that all cells have that allow them to let materials in and out?

selectively permeable membrane.

Cell membranes that allow certain molecules to pass through while keeping others out are called?

semi permiable I believe, but I'm not 100 percent sure on the spelling selectively permeable
