Sounds like your belt may be too tight, or too loose. It can also be the bearings in the pump are seizing. This can be very dangerous if the pump shaft breaks. It can do some serious damage to radiator, hoses, and belts. Get this repaired ASAP.
if the noise is a high pitched squealing noise, the belt is slipping....if the noise is a whine or growling noise, the pump is low on fluid or the pump is bad
Sounds like you need a water pump, The bearings in the water pump are making the noise not the pulley.
The bearing is on its way out. Replace the pump soon.
I think it is the massive pressure of the water being let out at such fast speed that it makes a squealing noise
my water pump just went out and i thought that the squealing was my belt but turned out to be my water pump and the fact it was leaking anti-freeze. so yes
bearing down in pump. djones1 buick dealership
The pump will need replaced if it is grinding.
When it starts leaking are making noise.
my car used to that and it was my water pump. but it could be your tensioner pully, belt.
More than likely it is a belt that you hear squealing. It can be loose or just worn out. Inspect all your belts. It can also be a power steering pump that is making this noise. Check the fluid level in the power steering pump.
If it is leaking antifreeze or water, or if it is making noise or binding when turned by hand.
a loose belt between an engine pully and your AC pump is causing the squealing noise a loose belt between an engine pully and your AC pump is causing the squealing noise oic, come to find out that a bolt broke off that holds the pully that was causing the belt the squeel. Also, they ended up just replacing the water pump, saying, while we are in here, you prolly need another water pump cause they tend to got out at 60,000 and up, which is what my cars miles is. Thanks.
