The sun evaporates the water from the ocean which then turns into water vapour. The water vapour rises into the air and merges together to form clouds. When the clouds are too heavy they release the water as precipitation either in sleet, snow, ice flakes or rain or hail. When the water hits the ground it flows back into the ocean and the cycle starts again
