i dont know why it is just kent (and the north of kent to be more specific) but the reason for a number of areas of the UK to associate the woodlouse with cheese is because the woodlouse carries its eggs on the underside of its body until it hatches. this has the appearance of the smegma that can collect around the penis, belly button, or toes. it is a basic suggestion that this might be the same material. but it is not.

for clarification smegma is not a cheese either, it is dead skin cells and bacteria that creates an aroma that is described as 'cheesy'
