They battle her while Grover continuously kicks her from a tree. Percy then cuts her head off. Annabeth can't because Medusa's rival is her mother, Athena. Percy sends the head to Mount Olympus.

Annabeth is upset because quests were banned for a time at the camp after Luke failed one miserably. Annabeth has wanted a quest for a long time to prove herself to her mother and gain some attention from Athena. Percy, a new demigod, shows up, and suddenly he gets a quest just because of his father. That grates on Annabeth. Something else she mentions, which comes into play later in the story, is that Poseidon and Athena are not friends, and their children arenβt supposed to be either. It goes back to an old myth about their rivalry to become the patron god of Athens. Athena won, giving them the olive tree, and ever since they have been at odds with one another. Annabeth bucks that trend, falling in love with Percy eventually, but it is one example of how Riordan weaves the old myths into the new story and makes them relevant.

Are you stupid? He's the title character! Percy Jackson is the son of the sea god,Posideon (roman verson: Neptune). He found Zeus' master bolt (stolen by Luke Castellan, later given to Ares). He also sailed the Sea of Monsters with Annabeth Chase to find their friend ,Grover Underwood( Satyr), and reclaim the Golden fleece. Percy later gave the Golden fleece to Clarisse La Rue, Letting her take all the glory. During The Titan's curse, he followed Grover, Zoe, Thalia and Bianca on their quest to find Artemis. He only did so in hope of finding Annabeth, who had gone missing. He also carried the weight of the Sky and navagated the labrinth (with the help of: Annabeth, Rachel, Tyson and Nico) He also helped influence Luke's decision to kill himself, thus helped destroy Kronos. As of the Son of Neptune, he is a 'praetor' of Camp Jupiter. It is unknown if he still has the status during Mark of Athena. He is NOT the leader of all the demigods. Hera/Juno wiped his mind of all his and Jason Grace's memories some time between The last Olympian and the Lost Hero. He is only breifly mentioned in the Lost Hero by an upset Annabeth. We later meet up with him at Camp Jupiter (roman demigod camp) fighting Medusa's two sisters. He is placed in the fifth cohort (lead by Dakota, son of Bacchus, lover of Kool-aid). Percy goes on a quest with Frank Zhang and Hazel Levesque to free Thantos (god of death) from Chains in Alaska. They are successful. The book ends with Percy regaining some of his memories. In Mark of Athena, Percy is reunited with Annabeth. The seven (Percy, Annabeth, Leo, Hazel, Frank, Jason, Piper) and Gleeson Hedge set out on the Argo II And that is all I'm going to say! Now GO READ THE BOOK! You'll understand this better! I promise!

Annabeth Chase is very confident and intelligent. She is also a bit of a know-it-all but not on purpose, in a nice way. She feels unsure of herself a lot because she has been abandoned so many times and is very protective of Luke. But she also depends on Percy too, since he is really the only one that hasn't left her yet. She is very territorial with her friends and makes great strategies. When Hera sends Percy to the Roman camp Annabeth feels upset since he was the only person that had almost always been there and before she knows about the camp she probably thought he abandoned her. She is my favorite character in the series because there is hardly ever a girl hero.
