Biomass is a renewable resource.
Biomass, where vegetation is burnt to provide energy (generating electricity, heating, cooking etc) is good because it replaces the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas).
Biomass is carbon neutral. This means it neither adds or subtracts carbon from the atmosphere. When the vegetation for biomass is growing it takes in CO2 from the atmosphere. When it is burnt the same amount of CO2 is released. Carbon neutral!
Fossil fuels release carbon dioxide when they are burnt too, but this is CO2 that has been out of circulation for millions of years, so releasing it now increases the amount of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. This is causing global warming, so any use of renewable and carbon neutral fuel will help slow or stop this dangerous phenomenon.
Processing biomass still uses energy. Mining coal still uses energy. Everything we do to produce fuel, still uses energy. Even using nuclear power, still uses energy. Granted, biomass produces less smoke than a coal fire, but it is the cost to the environment, our health and well being, in the end that matters.
In the UK, wind power, solar and wave power are something to consider.
It's not. Biomass causes lots more carbon emmissions when burned than regular fossil fuels do. Fossil fuels also burn more efficiently.
YES......For obvious reasons=biomass is renewable!=
there is not a thing negtive about biomass we need to save biomass it!
its pretty much everywhere. anything containing carbon is biomass. dirt is biomass. poop is biomass. a tree is biomass. you are biomass. so is your dog.. so, yeah; its pretty easy to get your hands on.
Biomass is material from anything that is now living or used to be alive.
biomass energy is located everywhere on this planet!

Biomass can be regrown quickly, making it a good alternative to coal.
Biomass takes less time to form
Biomass takes less time to form.
biomass energy can be turned into fuel instead of oil or gas. the government is looking for alternative fuel instead of oil or gas and biomass could take its place.
Biomass can be regrown quickly, making it a good alternative to coal.
yes, there are tons of alternative fuels besides oil. i am doing a research project right now in my English class on alternative fuels. so far, i have found biomass fuels, biodiesel, natural gas, alcohol, and french fry oil. hope you can search farther into what you have learned from me....
Biomass is a renewable resource.
The main advantage of biomass over coal is that it is "carbon neutral". This means that in order for the biomass to be created, it consumed carbon dioxide from the environment. Upon burning biomass, no additional carbon is added to our atmosphere. Coal, on the other hand, is taking carbon out of the earth and adding more to our atmosphere.
the 5 alternative sources are geothermal, hydro, wind, solsr, biomass
wind mills, solar power, hydro elecctric power, geothermal energy, biomass, coal, carbon capture, and neuclear energy
