What factors cause an increase in probability to have a child with Down Syndrome?

Older mothers have more problems with their body's than younger one's do, therefore it makes them more vulnerable to having a child with DS than a younger mother with a healthier body haveing a child with DS.

As the mother's age increases, the risk of having a baby with Down's syndrome also increases. In particular, women aged 35 and older have a significantly higher risk of having a child born with Down's. At age 30, for example, a woman has about a 1 in 900 chance of conceiving a child with Down's. The risk increases to about 1 in 350 for a who is aged 35, and to about 1 in 100 for a woman who is aged 40.

Down's syndrome (also called Trisomy 21) is typically caused when the baby receives an extra chromosome (chromosome #21) at conception - so instead of receiving 23 chromosomes from the father and 23 chromosomes from the mother for a total of 46 chromosomes, the baby receives 47 chromosomes. It is this extra genetic material that causes the physical features and delayed development associated with Down's.

well a- because a child is more likely to inherent it instead of just catching it so it is proven that you may not catch it it is not possible to obtain catching it ! because a mother may have given his/her child it to inherent it
