Greater processor speed is a benefit for consumers as they get to have computers that perform better. It may however be a boon for builders as fast CPUs are expensive, making computers expensive to assemble.

∙ 13y agoAs companies such as Intel realised last decade that simply increasing the clock speed came at the cost of melting chips they found a better way. That way resulted in the Core Duo, Quad Core, 12 core, 16 core chips that we now either have or soon will have.
Multi Core processor run a slight bit slower than the previous chips, but, they handle a lot more things at lot faster than the good old days.
