gunpowder does not explode. it is very very flammable but since the gunpowder is inside of a cartridge or a shotgun shell the gases from the gunpowder build up inside the cartridge which shoots the projectile out of the cartridge
Gunpowder was first invented in China no later than about A.D. 850. For hundreds of years, it was used mainly to create fireworks. The Chinese did not use gunpowder as a weapon of war; it was the Europeans who first adapted explosives for use in weapons. By the fourteenth century, Europeans were widely using the explosive as a military device to project stones, spearlike projectiles, and metal balls from cannons and guns.
Gunpowder burns but it burns very quickly. It's very reactive with oxygen. When enough heat is applied, either externally or from itself, the reaction progresses very rapidly and the gunpowder "explodes." ********* Agree in general. Gunpowder consists of a fuel and an oxidizer mixed together- it does not need additional oxygen. The original gunpowder was black powder- a "low" explosive- modern gunpowder is based on nitrocellulose and nitroglycerin- "High" explosives. When triggered by heat, the fuel and oxidizer combine rapidly, producing large quantities of hot, expanding gas. This gas pushes the bullet out of the barrel.
During the 8th century Tang dynasty, sulphur and saltpeter were first combined with charcoal to create an explosive called huoyao or gunpowder. A substance that did not encourage eternal life, however, gunpowder was used to treat skin diseases and as a fumigant to kill insects before its advantage as a weapon was made clear. The Chinese began experimenting with the gunpowder filled tubes. At some point, they attached bamboo tubes to arrows and launched them with bows. Soon they discovered that these gunpowder tubes could launch themselves just by the power produced from the escaping gas. The true rocket was born.
TNT is an explosive compound, and can be a component of an I.E.D., but is not one in and of itself, anymore than any other explosive by itself is an I.E.D.The name I.E.D. pretty much defines what it is: it's a device - that is, some assembly of parts - which is manufactured in an ad-hoc, improvised, and non-formally manufactured form, which contains some explosive. Most common I.E.D. use the explosive filler from scavenged artillery shells (which is typically closer to RDX, the primary component of plastic explosive) as their explosive component. Custom-made gunpowder is also common, though less effective and harder to handle. Plastic explosive itself bought on the black market is also becoming more common in I.E.D.s(as of 2010 in Iraq and Afghanistan)
instead of bullets they had gunpowder.
Its explosive LOL
By a chemical explosive known as gunpowder.
The Chinese invented Gunpowder
I went to the store to buy some gunpowder for my cannon.
They used gunpowder because it is highly explosive stuff which is very strong and could of blew up the house of Parliament in seconds.
It's an explosive powder used in guns, cannons, and rifles. Hence the name gunpowder.
Depending on age of weapon; blackpowder or gunpowder
No, wet gunpowder cannot be effectively used as it may have degraded and lost its explosive properties. It is recommended to dispose of wet gunpowder properly and use fresh, dry gunpowder for safety and effectiveness.
Yes, as long as you are not purchasing it for an unlawful purpose. You can purchase gunpowder for reloading ammunition, and that's legal, but you cannot purchase gunpowder with the intent of constructing a bomb or explosive device.
Yes, i eat gunpowder and then I'm aggresive and explosive. It works well before a boxing match
This is the composition of gunpowder.
it is explosive powder that will only explode when fire connects with it
