According to The Bible heaven is the dwelling place of God and the believers or saints who are ultimately saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
It is a place of happiness because:
God is there
sin , sickness are not there.
ANOTHER ANSWER:
In Jesus' "outline for prayer" that He gives us... that the world calls "the Lord's Prayer"... He reveals that GOD'S KINGDOM is a HAPPY and PEACEFUL PLACE! He tells us to PRAY FOR HIS KINGDOM TO COME TO EARTH [which is the Message, Good News, or GOSPEL of the Bible], so that the earth may also BECOME LIKE HEAVEN ALREADY IS!
"...Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will BE DONE IN EARTH, as IT IS IN HEAVEN..." (Matt.6:10).
Bible prophecy also tells us that when Jesus finally brings the Kingdom of God to earth, it will be a Kingdom of INCREASE... a GLOBAL WORLD-RULING GOVERNMENT:
"of... PEACE THERE SHALL BE NO END... to ESTABLISH IT with JUDGMENT and with JUSTICE from henceforth [from the Day He returns with His Kingdom] EVEN FOR EVER. The zeal of the LORD of hosts WILL PERFORM THIS." (Isa.9:7)
The Bible, therefore, is pretty straightforward in revealing to man how Happy and Peaceful heaven is... as well as contrasting how OPPOSITE of heaven the conditions on earth are NOW!
So, it should be no real mystery why heaven is regarded in the terms posed by the question.
The mystery arises in the minds and hearts of individuals who never read or studied the Bible, and go off on a tangent [in their various religions and denominations] as to "how they think heaven ought to be" when they have never really considered what the Bible reveals about it. Tangents, like, "believing that God promises to man that he will GO THERE"... when the Bible makes no such promise whatsoever.
Truth be told... the Bible doesn't say "GO TO HEAVEN OR HELL." And the only place in the Bible that comes anywhere close to saying "go to heaven" is where it reveals to us that going to heaven IS SATAN'S MOST HEARTFELT DESIRE AND OBSESSION!
"For THOU HAST SAID IN THINE HEART, I WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN..." (Isa.14:13).
Men's "ideas" of how heaven is actually varies with the individual's "imagination"... and not necessarily from what the Bible truly reveals about it. The god of this world, whom man has worshiped and obeyed from the beginning [see Genesis chapter 3] has man "believing" that God wants man to go there... when the biblical Truth is, it's HE who wants to go there TO BE GOD! So why not twist and pervert the Truth about it, and deceive man, into thinking he's destined to go there, too, through all the variations of false religion that he's foisted upon the blinded spirits of mankind throughout the generations.
It's the Truth of God's Word, the Bible, that "heaven is indeed a place of Happiness and Peace"... but not that many people have actually read the Bible, or know and understand what it really says. It's also revealed in the Bible that it's SATAN WHO REALLY WANTS TO GO THERE... and that it's his ongoing deception of man's collective heart and mind that has different men believing all kinds of different things regarding "how heaven really is."
Different religions and/or denominations believe, for instance, that "heaven is only for people who believe the way they do" -- "their kind of people" -- and that all other beliefs and "kinds of people" are consigned to nether regions of "other places" that aren't so "happy or peaceful."
The Bible reveals "how heaven truly is"... Happy and Peaceful. But not that many people have actually read the Bible to know this Truth. This deceived world, therefore, really "considers" however it imagines how heaven is due to the false teachings and influence of the god it has always worshiped... and listened to.
"...the great Dragon... that old Serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, WHICH DECEIVETH THE WHOLE WORLD..." (Rev.12:9).
In many religious beliefs, heaven is considered to be eternal and everlasting, a place where the righteous will reside for eternity. The idea is that once someone enters heaven, they will not leave and will enjoy eternal peace and happiness.
I am a Christian. In my belief Heaven is a beautiful place where there is peace and happiness and God is in Heaven. I doubt that the people who go to heaven will be unsatisfied.
Heaven is often believed to be a perfect place in many religious beliefs, where there is no suffering, pain, or evil. It is described as a place of eternal happiness and peace.
In many religious beliefs, heaven is seen as a place of eternal happiness and peace. If a widow remarries, it is generally believed that their happiness in heaven would not be affected by their earthly relationships. Ultimately, it is up to individual interpretation and belief systems.
Miss Watson is referring to Heaven as the "good place" in which she hopes to reunite with loved ones after death. This is a common belief in Christianity, where Heaven is seen as a place of eternal happiness and peace for those who have lived a virtuous life.

Yes, Heaven is a happy place in as much that no one really likes to leave heaven. As we cling to our happinesses on Earth, so do we cling to happiness in heaven. Those who are in heaven are also plagued with the same grief as ours because both happiness and grief are the two ends of the same dichotomy. Neither are dependant on the geographical location; be it heaven or Earth.
