It creates justice. The fact that the people determining your guilt or innocence are impartial means that they will decide based on what they feel is right, not how they feel about you as a person. If I am suspected of killing your mother, it would not be just for you to decide whether I am guilty or innocent. Not only are you an emotional mess because you're mother's just been murdered, but you want me to be guilty, and you're likely to make assumptions based on your desire for revenge rather than carefully weighing evidence.
