A 306 HDI may continue to run after you switch off the engine if the ignition timing is set improperly. This will force the engine to continue running for several seconds.

Its all electronics. Either turn your fuel pump off manually by cutting power supply. In practice, when you turn switch off, hdi pump and injectors stop as well. There is no mechanical valve.

It's not uncommon for the electric fan to switch on once you stop the engine because the flow of radiator coolant through the engine stops when you turn the engine off. Without the coolant running through the engine and radiator the temperature of the engine will spike for a short time triggering the electric fan. It should shut off after a few moments.
