Lawyers need to be able to multiply their hourly rate by the number of hours they spend researching a case, writing and filing their briefs, meeting with their client, and representing the client in court if necessary.
A lawyer needs math to keep track of their accounting; to double check the results of any program they use; to compute the damages of a client in a personal injury case including loss of wages and future loss of wages if applicable.
Math isn't necessarily important to becoming a lawyer. Depending on what type of law you are in, you may never use much math. Math classes might be used to weed out those who aren't serious about law.
It will allow you to calculate your fees acurately!
