Work = force x distance. With a distance of zero, the work will also be zero.

How do you transfer files from one place to another in your NOOK color?

First you need to create separate shelves for your books (i.e. horror, romance, mystery, already read, etc.). Then, go to each shelf and touch the "edit" button. This will bring up a list of all your books. Go to each book you want on each specific shelf (i.e. say you're putting mystery books on your "mystery shelf", touch the "edit" button, touch the screen next to the book and that creates a check mark. Once finished for one shelf, press "save". Your books for that shelf are now saved onto that "shelf". Continue this for all your books. To move books from one shelf to another, again go to the shelf you want to remove it from, hit "edit", find the book title, touch the checked-marked box which will remove it from that shelf, touch "save" to ensure that it's removed from that shelf. Go to the shelf you want that book to go and repeat the process ("edit, put a check mark next to the book title, "save") and your done.

The kinetic energy of a book on a shelf is equal to the work done to lift the book to the shelf?

no, but the POTENTIAL energy may equal the work done to life the book to the shelf

Work is done when in physics?

In physics, work is done when a force is applied over a certain distance.

What energy of a book on a shelf is equal to the work done to lift the book to the shelf?

The potential energy of the book on the shelf is equal to the work done to lift the book to the shelf. This is because the potential energy of an object at a certain height is equivalent to the work done against gravity to lift it to that height.

Is t true the kinetic energy of a book on a shelf is equal to the work done to lift the book to the shelf?

What is difference between applied-physics and physics?

I am currently doing Applied physics in College. In my particular college, applied physics is coursework based, there are no exams whereas for Physics, there are.Applied physics, at my college, involves a lot of practical work and stems into fields of Biology and Chemistry alongside Physics, focusing on all three for a first year during a National Diploma course, and only physics during the second year.Generally, Applied Physics refers to the use of physics; how it is used in various fields eg engineering. Whereas, Physics or sometimes called Pure Physics can be more theoretical, new research, new areas to explore. The work being done at CERN in Europe, the large hadron collider where atomic particles are being collided would be Physics. The two fields will largely overlap and the discoveries made in Physics will leak into Applied Physics.

What is the work done by carrying force on the back pack?

WORK in terms of Physics is only done when there is motion of an Object. So even though you may tire while standing still wearing a Pack, NO WORK is being performed on the Pack itself (in terms of Physics). Once you start walking, then there is work being done MOVING the pack forward, as well as UP and DOWN! To find the total work done on the Pack, you would have to use Vector representation of the Forces and the Motion to solve the entire System's Work Performed.

Is work being done when someone is typing a letter?

Yes it is being done, if the person doing it is doing it as part of a paid job or because they run a business and the letter is needed for the business. If it is being typed for school it may also be considered work, but of a different kind. And from the view of physics, since energy is being expended by the person typing, and perhaps by the machinery being used, work is being done. However, if you are at work and typing a letter to your grandmother, that is not the kind of work you are being paid for and your employer would say work is not being done.
