The ozone layer is important to living things on earth because , without it earth's atmosphere would be unprotected from the Sun's harmful UV rays. Damage from the Sun's UV rays could cause serious health issues such as skin cancer.

What does the ozone layer do for earth?

Ozone layer is the reason for earth to be a habitable place to live in. Ozone layer blocks around 97% of the total radiation received by the earth. It acts as a blanket and keeps the atmosphere cool. It is responsible for the survival of life on earth.

Why is the ozone in the atmosphere important?

the ozone layer is important because it keeps harmful ultra violent rays from the sun from burning us. now what most understand is the ozone is sort of like a green house that's why they call it the green house effect at night the sun is gone obviously and if there was no ozone layer the earth would freeze at night. so we would burn by day and freeze by night now to live through that you would have to a mutant or something. that is why the ozone layer is important to earth thanks for reading, from jackass loves emmanuel

In which layer of the atmosphere is ozone present?

The Ozone Layer, which is made up of Ozone molecules, or O3 molecules, occurs in the stratosphere. The stratosphere is the second layer up from the surface, above the troposphere, which we live in. (Sorry...long drawn out answer.) :)

Who lives in the ozone layer?

Ozone molecules live in the ozone molecules. Ozone layer is a large pool of ozone molecules which protect us from harmful UV radiations of the sun.

Why do you live on earth and not other planets?

people live on earth because it is the only planet that can supply us with the most important element of all which is to humans oxygen gas (O2). also with this oxygen comes the Ozone layer(O3). this layer prevents radiation from entering our bodys and helps keep the world cooler.

Will humans be able to live on earth without the ozone layer?

no.

What role did ozone play in evolution of life on earth?

Ozone accumulated in the ozone layer reduced the amount of ulvraviolet radiation reaching the Earth's surface, thus allowing organisms with DNA to live on or near Earth's surface.

What is ozone depletion and why isit a problem?

Ozone depletion is the destruction or "wearing away" of the ozone layer surrounding Earth. It is a problem because the ozone layer keeps out a large amount of harmful UV rays emitted by the Sun; without any ozone layer, Earth would essentially be impossible to live on. UV rays cause serious burns to human skin, so without the ozone layer, you would be burnt immediately upon stepping outside into the unadulterated sunlight.

What layer of the atmosphere doesn't touch the earth's surface?

We live in the Troposphere, which does touch the surface. Above that is the Stratosphere then the Ozone Layer then the Mesosphere and finally the Ionosphere.

Why must the ozone layer be preserved?

The ozone layer is self-repairing. It does not need to be "preserved", simply not ignorantly attacked. Ozone protects Earth's surface from UV-B. UV-B causes mutation and cancer in all organisms, and reduces crop yields.

What role did ozone play in the evolution of life on earth?

The role of the ozone layer was that it allowed life to begin. The sun's ultraviolet rays were almost always blocked. Only 25% of the U.V. rays made it through the ozone. The blocking of the U.V. rays allowed life to start and plants to grow, ultimately producing oxygen, allowing life to take off.

How does the ozone layer effect your health?

The ozone layer in our atmosphere is an important shield that keeps the majority of harmful radiation from the sun from the lower layers in which we live. Too much solar radiation is known to increase the risk of skin cancer.
