Why is plastic bad for your environment?

plastic water bottles are bad for the environment because first they START decomposing after 700 years, all the chemicals in the plastic go into the air we breathe and the places where they make water bottles (factories) are putting toxic fumes in the air plus they have to go get the oil used to make the plastic, then bring it back to the factory wihich puts the gas from the car in the air! plus we could could be using the oil for much better things than plastic bottles with lasts for minutes.

they stay in a landfill for evur. they are not biodegratavle. the lides to plastic bottles cannot be recycled. if you freeze a waterbottle (including its liquid) when it melts it gives off parts of the plastic in the liquid. they are part of the reason of global warming.

Unlike most organic materials, man made plastic has a very long decomposition period. Some plastics made in the middle 20th centuary are still not decomposed yet.

Due to this long decomposition cycle, waste plastic present threats to wildlife when disposed of uncaringly. Frequently land and Marine wild life are killed by ingesting plastic waste.

In response to this issue, the disposability of plastics has come under scrutiny and chemists have investigated the possibility of bio-degradable plastics to reduce the life span of this man-made substance.
