Why is plastic used to make toys?

Plastic is probably one of the greatest inventions of all time.

Plastic can be made to be flexible (like a tupperware lid), or rigid (like body parts on a car). It is hypo-allergenic, meaning that it's extremely rare to have an allergy to it.

It can be colored and molded, so that the colors don't "scrape off".

It's also relatively inexpensive to produce, and can be cleaned and disinfected easily since it is non-porous. Therefore, because toys are hit, chewed, thrown, ridden on, etc. plastic is a relatively good medium to make toys from.

Glass was considered very heavy and hard to move around for long periods of time, until Plastic was invented. Since then, everything has become a whole lot easier for convenience and transportation.
