As a previous "addict" I found it was a "quick fix". The reason people like it is because when adrenaline builds up whenever you are upset self harm is often a way to release this and give a feeling of relief. It becomes addictive when the lighter parts of self harm don't give the same satisfaction. So you cut deeper, press harder. I wouldn't (or could) say it seems as technically addictive as drugs but it is a slippery slope. It isn't an answer to feeling better as addicts feel, meerly a way of channeling hatred and being upset- those who do it need to talk not harm.
