A clogging shoe is made of leather, with a wooden heel and toe. On the bottom of each piece of wood, there are to "taps or pieces of metal the first piece is completely attached to the shoe and the second piece of metal is only part way screwed on; So when we are dancing instead of getting on flat sound you get a looser sound! There are also shoes called stomper's, all this means is that there the whole bottom of the shoe is hard and does not flex, now days most people use split soles which means the middle of the clogs are only leather, so they flex a lot better and they are great for doing toe stands in!
