because the earth is tilted at an angle so part of it is toward the sun and the other is away from the sun.
Example: December in the USA is Winter, December in Argentina is Summer because the angle of earth is either closer to the sun or away from the sun, Winter is away from the sun and Summer is toward the sun. Hotter and Colder climates
The earth tilts at 23.5 degrees so one hemisphere faces downwards and one face upwards at all times. As the earth moves around the sun it spins up and down very slowly. When it is June, July & August, the earth is facing downwards so the Northern Hemisphere sees more sunlight and is in summer, this is when the North Pole receives 24hrs of sunlight on its solstice. When it is December, January & February, the earth faces upwards so the Southern Hemi gets more sunlight and the Northern Hemi gets less, this is the Southern summer and the Northern Winter. The equator always gets the same amount of sunshine all year round so it doesn't have seasons.
Yes it is. And vice versa.
